Terms of Use
These are the rules for using GlassNet, the app and the service behind its store and study groups. By using them you agree to these. If you don't, that's fine — the app still works for studying your own decks without an account.
Your account
You sign in with Apple. You must be 13 or older. You're responsible for what's done with your account. One person, one account.
GlassKeys and unlocking decks
- GlassKeys are bought through Apple. Apple's terms cover the purchase; refunds go through Apple.
- One GlassKey unlocks one deck for your account, permanently. Unlocked decks are for your own study. They're not yours to republish, share to a group, or resell, and the app won't let you.
- If a deck is removed from the store after you unlocked it, you keep your copy.
Publishing decks
- You can publish up to three new decks a month. Fixing a rejected one doesn't count.
- You must own what you publish. Your own words, your own notes. Not a textbook's glossary, not a published question bank, not song lyrics, not someone else's deck.
- Published decks are checked automatically and, when flagged, by a person before they go on sale. We can decline or remove a deck at any time, and will tell you why.
- For each unlock of your deck you earn fifty cents, held for thirty days, then payable. Ten cents goes to DonorsChoose. Apple takes its commission on the sale. The full split is on Where the money goes.
- Payouts go through Stripe once you're owed ten dollars. You're responsible for any tax on what you earn.
- By publishing, you give us the right to sell, display, and distribute the deck through GlassNet for as long as it's published. You keep ownership. Unpublish it any time.
Study Groups
- Up to five people, up to ten shared decks, up to three groups at a time. You can join a group up to eight times a month.
- Shared decks have no owner. Anyone in the group can edit or remove one. Save a version if you want to keep a copy — it's on your Mac, and it's yours after the group ends.
- Bought decks can't be shared into a group. A deck that copies a store deck can't be shared either; the service refuses it.
- What you share is visible to the people in that group and no one else.
What you can't do
- Publish or share material you don't have the right to.
- Publish anything that's harassing, hateful, sexual, or dangerous. Study decks are for studying.
- Use scripts, bots, or multiple accounts to get around a limit.
- Try to get at another person's data, or at the service in ways it isn't meant to be used.
Doing any of these can end your account. Repeat copyright infringers are terminated — that's our policy under the DMCA, and it's real.
Reporting and blocking
Every deck in the store has a Report option; a person reads every report. You can block any creator, which hides their decks from you and ends any friendship. Copyright owners can send a notice to our designated agent.
The service
We'll keep GlassNet running as well as we can, but it's provided as is. We're not liable for lost decks, missed exams, or indirect damages, to the extent the law allows. If a part of the service ends, you'll be told, and your local decks stay on your Mac regardless.
Changes and contact
If these terms change materially, the date at the top changes and the app will say so. Questions: macarthurkeenan@gmail.com.
